"...their album, Look Both Ways Before You Die, sounds like the work of seasoned pros. It's female-fronted electro-pop with an unambiguous agenda for social equality."

Team Smile and Nod's CD Release Party @ East Village-
Thinkroot Records is an independent record label that was established in early 2008 to promote and release the subversive musical projects of Kara Elizabeth Sherman (founder/artist). One of the main Thinkroot Records goals is to do business right. For example, the music released will be artistically crafted labors of love. Further, things like social and environmental values are a major priority.
Thinkroot Record's initial release will be Team Smile and Nod's debut CD, Look Both Ways Before You Die. It is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2008.
Who are Team Smile and Nod? A mix of dark humor, grieving sadness, glee-filled love, and politically derived depression constitute the lyrical attributes of Kara Elizabeth's songwriting. Using her acoustic guitar, she transforms her lyrics into vocal pop melodies. Rich Ratvasky adds an inspired layer of experimental, beat-driven, intuitively-arranged electronic ambiance. He often supplements the songs with vocals and guitars. Combining their efforts, they arrange their individual creations into one. Their joined forces have become: Team Smile and Nod. Their debut CD, Look Both Ways Before You Die (to be released October 14, 2008), presents a clear view of an emotionally-charged band's distinctive truth.
